I enjoy working with Dr. Newman and her knowledgeable team in providing quality dental care and treatment to our community, patients and their families. When you call and come to our practice, you will meet me over the phone and at the front desk where I can assist you with scheduling appointments, billing, and answering questions as you establish care in our practice. You may also see me assisting my team with radiography, sterilization, and patient treatment. I have a background in dental assisting amongst other healthcare professions and I strive to find peace and joy in small things each day. Outside of work I enjoy spending time being outside and exploring the beautiful Roanoke Valley with my two children and forever puppy.

Hi, I’m Elly. I grew up on a 500 acre tobacco farm in La Plata, Maryland. Shortly after high school, in 1983, I became a dental assistant working for my family dentist. I love the variety of my job and over the years I have expanded my knowledge and duties.
I worked for a year with Dr. Newman in 2015 (prior to her owning this practice), then returned to work with her in 2017. I love my work family and the wonderful patients I have the privilege to meet and help.
My goal is to help patients feel at ease, create trust and educate patients regarding dental treatment to help them to maintain a healthy smile and feel confident.
As much as I love dentistry, My favorite title is “Oma”. I love spending time with my two precious grandsons as well as my four awesome children and their mates.

I grew up among the mountains in Utah, near Salt Lake City. I met my wonderful husband at Brigham Young University, where I studied geology. My husband and I pursued additional studies at the College of William & Mary and, upon graduation, moved to Roanoke in 2005, where we raised and are raising our four amazing children. We love the beautiful Roanoke area with its blue mountains and abundance of greenery! We have since drawn other members of our extended family to the area and feel very lucky to be surrounded by loved ones. Since moving to Roanoke, I became a licensed dental hygienist. I thoroughly enjoy this important work and serving so many wonderful people!
Supporting Member
Dr. Newman and her husband rescued Eva from the Blount County Animal Shelter in Tennessee as an adult dog. She has been a loyal companion for their family since 2013. Always up for an adventure, Eva loves walks with the family, camping and chasing squirrels and deer. Her other hobbies include napping by the fire or listening to Riley read stories. Update: Per popular patient request, Eva spent many Thursdays in the office. Unfortunately due to age and spatial sensitivity, she is no longer joining us on-site. However, she continues to support us from home!
